Wyoming Pronghorn down with Pacific Yew longbow

by Ray Borbon - October 19th, 2009

I stalked this pronghorn to 10 yards in it’s bedding area amongst some rocks near Glenrock,Wyoming. I shot it with one arrow and then it fell off a cliff and I followed up with a second arrow which did the deed.

My first pronghorn antelope.

Tunneling FireFox through Putty/SSH

by Ray Borbon - October 8th, 2009

I needed to get my server off the black list at Sorbs.net

They require you navigate to their web page from the server. My server is in Phoenix and I am in Seattle.

I used this: http://www.devdaily.com/unix/edu/putty-ssh-tunnel-firefox-socks-proxy/3-configure-firefox-use-ssh-tunnel-socks-proxy.shtml

It worked like a charm and I was delisted from the mailing black list at Sorbs.net

Nmap Security Scanner

by Ray Borbon - October 3rd, 2009

This port scan tool is a must for anyone running a server on the WWW.

http://nmap.org/

I use it in order to tell me which ports are open and to see where the holes are.

Bear Rug

by Ray Borbon - September 29th, 2009

I harvested a small boar in September 2008 out of the high country of the North Cascade Range of Washington state. The rug is finished.

This bear was quite tasty as well. Of course his diet of blueberries helped.

New Born Elk in the Hoh Rain Forest

by Ray Borbon - June 5th, 2009

I’m betting this elk was born within ten minutes of the photo. We did not approach, make noise or bother the elk. We moved on.. What an experience which you don’t see every day. My 2 year old daughter was right there with us.
